Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
Our Engaging Wellness programs are evidence based, encouraging safe and effective movement. Our licensed instructors are appropriately trained for the classes they lead and specialize in working with older adults. Class donations can be covered under SilverSneakers, PeerFit, One Pass, or RenewActive if these benefits are included in your Medicare advantage plan. If not, attend for a suggested donation of $3.00/class. Donations are accepted via mail or online.

EnhanceFitness
These 60-minute group exercise classes improve endurance, balance, strength and flexibility. People of all abilities can participate wither seated or standing.

Tai Chi for Arthritis
This gentle, slow moving exercise class is great for anyone with or without arthritis. It is based in centuries-old martial arts movements and is a mindful and meditative way to build balance, strength, and endurance.

Gentle Yoga
Uses breathing techniques, balance poses, and gentle stretches to improve strength, mobility, and health. Participants will flow through a variety of seated and standing poses. No getting on the floor.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
Get one hour of physical activity all while having fun! Safe and effective for anyone with or without arthritis.

A Matter of Balance
For anyone with concerns about falling. These workshops will help you set goals to increase activity safely, make changes to reduce fall risks, learn exercises to increase strength and balance, and learn what to do if a fall does happen.

Drums Alive
Join us for a dance and drumming workout that’s fun, uplifting, and designed for all abilities. Boost strength, reduce stress, and leave feeling like a rockstar!
AMERICORPS SENIORS

Put your values into action as an AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer
Senior Neighbors is Kent County’s hub for connecting schools and community groups to the wisdom, experience and enthusiasm of volunteers 55 and older. Over 55 and looking to find purpose through giving back to the community? Explore our options below:

Volunteer in Schools
Shape a child’s life as a mentor or tutor through the AmeriCorps Foster Grandparents pogram. Help students develop literacy and math skills and be a positive adult role model. Volunteers serve 20 hours a week in a local school or daycare classroom.

Assist Other Seniors
Provide assistance and friendship to older adults and provide respite for family caregivers. Volunteers serve 20 hours a week in a local senior living community or in-home placements.

Support Community Organizations
Use your skills and abilities in a volunteer role that aligns with your interests while supporting Priority Focus Areas such as: Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures and K-12 Success. Volunteers serve at organizations across Kent County or remotely. Flexible schedules, remote service and one-time opportunities are available.

TECNOLOGY SUPPORT
Increase Technology Skills
These classes increase general technology skills. Being comfortable on your own devices and the internet can help you stay connected, safe, and independent.
Programs Offered:
Group Workshops
Hands-on learning with peers open to any skill level. Instruction and hands-on guidance will be provided by a trained staff member.
One-on-One Guidance
Have a tech question, or not sure what you need? Get personalized support from program staff. They’ll help walk you through the answer or get you to the resource that meets your skill level and lifestyle.
Device Lending Library
If the cost of a device or internet service is a barrier, you may be able to borrow a tablet or laptop as well as a hotspot. *Due to limited quantities, this is available only for workshop participants.*
REFUGEE SERVICES
From Refugees to Neighbors
Adjusting to a new culture can be challenging, but we’re here to support Kent County refugees aged 60 and older every step of the way.

Services:
Permanent Residency & Citizenship
- Assistance in applying for Permanent Residency (Green Card)
- Naturalization assistance
- Referrals for N-648/Medical Waiver forms
Socialization Opportunities
- Craft/support group
- Potlucks
Support and Referral
- Address concerns, advocate and assist in making referrals to outside agencies
- Assist with applying for food benefits, Medicare, Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
