Our Daily Money Management Program specializes in tailored personal budgeting to meet your unique needs. These services take place in the comfort of your home, at your convenience. Based on income, there may be a modest copay amount for this service.

Our home maintenance team performs minor home repairs for homeowners over age 60 who do not have the resources or support to complete the repairs themselves.  We also have a program for veterans in need of home repair services called the Helping Homebound Heroes Program. 

  • Carpentry – Repair screen and storm doors, cabinets, change locks, perform minor carpentry jobs or install blinds
  • Electrical – Replace light switches and fuses, reset circuit breakers, install light fixtures and ceiling fans, change light bulbs
  • Plumbing – Repair or replace faucets, sink drains, toilets, garbage disposals, install hand-held shower nozzles or shower curtains
  • Safety – Install smoke detectors or replace batteries in smoke detectors
  • Seasonal – Installing and/or removing client-supplied room air conditioners

Our Pet Assistance Program can help you and your pet by providing animal care items including food and assisting you with connections to affordable veterinary services. Your animal’s welfare matters.

Whether you’re a new enrollee or doing your annual review, our insurance counselors provide personalized assistance during Open Enrollment. Our goal is to ensure your comfort as a Medicare beneficiary with both your plan type and enrollment option. Our counselors will inform you how to maximize your plan usage while treating you as the expert of your personal healthcare needs. They also assist with enrolling you into Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription plans.

  • Programs available to beneficiaries who are struggling with their Medicare costs, and we can screen you determine if you are eligible.
  • Insurance counseling is also available for the following groups: Michigan Public School Retirees, Kent County Retirees, and Veterans.

Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15th-December 7th. Presentations are a great opportunity to hear more about recent Medicare changes and your options for the coming year. Presentations are available at our senior centers and in select living communities around Kent County. Individual appointments are also available on a prescheduled basis. Reach out to your senior center Coordinator for more information on presentation dates and times.

Through funding provided by The Home Depot Foundation, Meals on Wheels America, and Kent County Veterans Services, this program offers home repairs to veterans and their spouses.

The Home Repair for Veterans program covers a wide range of projects that improve the livability of the home. Tasks that address safety and accessibility are given priority. Examples of past projects include installing a walk-in shower or functioning vanity, repairing a deck or ramp, and replacing flooring.

  • Be at least 60 years old
  • Own a home and have residence in Kent County
  • Be a veteran who has been honorably discharged from service, or the spouse of such a veteran
