Caregiver Respite
Empowering Caregivers, Enriching Senior Lives
At Senior Neighbors, we know many people are supporting someone they love even if they don’t call themselves a “caregiver”. If you are helping your spouse, checking in on a parent, coordinating appointments or making sure your loved one is okay, we’re here to support you. Respite services are available to give you a break so you can refill your cup and continue showing up for those you love.

CompanionCare
Caregiving is hard. Need a break? CompanionCare allows caregivers to step away knowing their loved one is in good hands. This program builds friendship and connection by pairing older adults with trained peer companions and engaging activities. This short-term, non-medical support will be scheduled at locations around Kent County.

Weekly Respite
If your loved one spends most of their time at home, they don’t have to feel alone. Our Senior Companion volunteers bring friendship and a caring presence with their weekly visits that give you the peace of mind to rest and focus on your own responsibilities. This program is the best fit if you are looking for consistent, long-term support focused on social connection as the volunteers cannot perform personal care or medical tasks. Volunteers complete a rigorous background check process and training before they are eligible to be matched as a companion.

Respite Certificates
We provide respite certificates that cover a few days of in-home help from a local home health care agency or adult day center programming so that you can get extra help for travelling, attending a special event or just try out services at little to no cost. This is also the best option if your loved one has medical or personal care needs. (Provided in partnership with Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan)
